Ready Steady Pan! Empty Ready Steady Pan!

Post by >MF< Fri May 18, 2012 6:13 am

http://www.reddit.com/r/couldtryharder/comments/tqpau/cth_ready_steady_pan_tournament_information/

Welcome to the CTH Ready Steady Pan tournament!

Tournament info:

  • This is a 6v6 tournament. However, normal 6v6 rules do not apply (read the rules below for further info).
  • The maps will be as follows; cp_badlands, koth_pro_viaduct_rc3 & cp_granary.
  • The tournament start date will be set once every team is ready to play.
  • The tournament timetable will be available soon after.
  • Matches should be recorded on STV. You can also record personal
demos for us and your mumble server, if you want to. We're going to be
uploading footage of this, so anything you can give us will help.
  • We are going to create a signup thread for teams where leaders
should post their team name and their 6-player roster. A seperate thread
will be created for individual players to build a team together to
    compete.
  • The CTH mumble can be used by any team that doesn't have a mumble of their own. The same goes for our TF2 match server.

EDIT: Signup threads are available on [1] r/readysteadypan

Prizes:

  • After each match, the winning team will be awarded a delicious food item of their choice (losers have to starve).
  • 3rd 2nd And 1st place winners will recieve a customised Connoisseur's Cap, as well as some more delicious food.

Tournament rules:

  • Class limits: Medic and Heavy are both banned from the tournament
completely, in order to make it fair. Every other class that can equip
the pan is allowed (meaning no Engineer or Spy).

Class limits are as follows:

Scout - 2

Soldier - 2

Pyro - 2

Demoman - 2

Sniper - 1

Medic - 0

Heavy - 0

Spy - 0

Engineer - 0

  • Weapon restrictions: The pan is the only weapon allowed in this
tournament, with a few exceptions - the Sticky Jumper and the Rocket
Jumper, Bonk! Atomic Punch, Jarate, Mad Milk, and the Crit-a-Cola are
    also allowed.
  • Large teams/highlander teams are allowed to enter multiple teams
of 6 to this tournament, as long as they don't contain any of the same
players. These teams may have to fight each other during the tournament.
  • CTH players will spectate matches to ensure no cheating takes place.

People interested? Team? Multiple teams?

That's an awkward idea. Might be fun to do.
If we're getting some teams in, I'd suggest 2 soldiers (max HP), 2 scouts (bonk and mad milk; fast hitters), 1 demoman (jumper) and 1 (jarate) sniper.

It sounds like fun, but what's the use of bonk really? Because it's all melee you won't escape using bonk when you 1v1 a scout. The other classes are slower and can't pursue you because of that. Then why would you use bonk if there's no danger?
I think crit-a-cola might come in handy if you can sneak behind them. Mad milk is the most usefull of all imo.

You can use the bonk to distract them and take hits for your team (just run into them, block them, ...)

And crit a cola can be nice if you're able to sneak in, yes. It's all personal opinion I guess.

Bonk could be nice for bodyblocking except that it works both ways, if you get between a teammate and an enemy, it's random chance which of them gains advantage of it really.

Why not 2 demos and 1 soldier? They can jump further/easier + they're a tad faster. Ofc you'd give up 25 health, but I don't think that really matters that much.

From what I've heard from Smitz, this is going to be something weekly, not really on 1 day.
